The re-opening of Bear Mountain Lodge (see this issue's Business Beat) will also have implications for Silver City's restaurant scene. The new owners plan to open a restaurant, Café Oso Azul, at the lodge. Meals will be breakfast and lunch only, to encourage lodge guests to patronize other local restaurants for dinner and to keep evenings quiet at the former Nature Conservancy B&B; the restaurant will also be open to the general public.
Look for a new Vietnamese restaurant to expand Las Cruces' dining scene: Details on Pho Saigon as we get our chopsticks on them.
Another new Asian eatery is already open for business in Las Cruces — China Express, at 2443 N. Main St. Owner-chef Jim Wong will offer Chinese and some Vietnamese dishes, for dine-in or take-out. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, 525-9411.
And real-estate agent Emily Coss has branched out into owning a restaurant, Emilia's, at 2410 Calle de Parian on the Mesilla Plaza, with partner John Frietze. Located in the former home of Café Don Felix, Emilia's will offer burgers, Mexican food, soup, sandwiches and pastry. For now, it's closed on Tuesdays and otherwise open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays and also open for breakfast on the weekends. 652-3007.
