The Sun, traveling through Gemini this month, sparks our sense of curiosity as we explore the world around us with an expansive and open approach to life, until it enters Cancer on the 21st marking the Summer Solstice. The full moon on the 7th in Sagittarius calls us forth to share our philosophical views and all we have learned though our adventures. The new moon on the 22nd in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn as we look at power issues and family. Where have we been asked to abandon our truth for love and acceptance?

Venus enters Taurus on the 6th as we contemplate the value of security and appreciate what is here to enjoy on the earthly plane. Mercury enters its home sign of Gemini on the 13th as communication flows easily down two-way streets. Jupiter in Aquarius turns retrograde (until Oct. 12) on the 15th as we meditate on what we each might bring to the table in the world to come. Venus conjuncts Mars in Taurus on the 21st aligning male and female energies; they both trine Saturn in Virgo on the 22nd, opening doors to more balanced creations. The asteroid Ceres, goddess of nurturing, conjuncts Saturn in Virgo on the 29th, guiding us to create structures built on love.

Famous Geminis: Bob Dylan, Anne Frank, Donald Trump

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) — Happy birthday, Gemini! What better way to start off your new year than with a large dose of compassion for yourself? We must allow ourselves to feel all our feelings and this is what self-love really is about. Turn toward yourself and hold a space for you.

CANCER (June 21-July 22) — Take the change that has come about and work with the elements that remain to design something new and more appropriate. This is the good side of change, Cancer — picking up the pieces that were once used to sustain things that did not support you, and using them in your own beautiful designs.

LEO (July 23-August 22) — Where you felt futility in the past, new movement is possible now, Leo. Consider what you have left behind, and revisit what seems to still be undone. Timing is always relevant, and the time for some resolution is more appropriate now.

VIRGO (August 23-Sept. 22) — To move forward, you must transform, Virgo. The deeper you go into the process of release and understanding and surrender, the greater the liberation you will have in the new reality that awaits you. Holding on to what does not truly serve you just won't work. Let yourself be overtaken by life and trust you will land in a better place.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) — You pull in your essence and conceal it from the world a bit now, Libra. This is appropriate to the circumstances. Not everyone or every situation warrants the gifts of your sacred expression. This does not change who you are or what you carry inside; it just allows you to be a bit more contained and safe in the places you need to be.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) — You take the nurturing you have received and work with it to grow deeper compassion for yourself into the future, Scorpio. As we cultivate genuine experiences of self-love and care, the world becomes more healthy and whole.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) — You move from outward creativity into a period of incubation, Sag. Every artistic soul knows that this is as essential a part of the process as all others. Go within and let the creative juices churn. Give yourself the time and space to germinate new seeds of self-expression.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — The correlations between efforts and payoffs are shifting, Capricorn. There is not always the straight and obvious connection that was there in our past. You are asked to expand into a more organic relationship to your own sense of success and to embrace a more holistic view of what that means.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) — You are overwhelmed by excesses, Aquarius. This means that you benefit from being selective and having discrimination about what you partake of and choose to participate in. We can feel obligated to indulge in what is offered, but that is not the only option. Give yourself the room to be selective.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) — Where you have allowed yourself to feel sorrow, you have new space for love. There is great spiritual renewal in these acts of self-love. So many of us did not have compassionate witnesses at earlier times in our lives when we were sad or devastated. As you give this to yourself now, you heal the pain of the past.

ARIES (March 21-April 19) — You show appreciation to those who have shown you the benevolence of love, Aries. It is important to stop and stand still in order to feel and express with sensitivity the gratitude we have for those who have shown up and really cared for us in this life. You do this now.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20) — You do not need to be on high alert, Taurus. All is well. You take a deep breath and settle into the things that help to ground and sustain you. No matter what is happening "out there," you know the most direct and logical pathway to greater security and comfort. That is the way you travel.
