The Sun, traveling through Taurus this month, calls us back to the earth as we listen closely to what is it is that we really need in order to support ourselves here — until it enters Gemini on the 20th and we turn in kindness toward others. Tuning into ourselves and listening to what our needs are allows us to more easily release the external pressures to accumulate things and align our energies instead with what we need in order to empower our true selves here in this world. The full moon on the 8th in Scorpio opens us to consider where we can share and work with others, and the new moon on the 24th in Gemini finds us ready to learn something brand new.

Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn on the 2nd as we take stock of our creative capabilities and think about where we want to unfold our power. Mercury in Gemini turns retrograde on the 6th, reminding us to think twice before we speak.

Saturn in Virgo turns direct on the 16th, as we go forward in self-containment to make things happen. The Sun squares Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune (all in Aquarius) on the 16th, as we ponder: How shall we proceed into our collective future? Neptune turns retrograde on the 28th, encouraging deeper spiritual contemplation. Now is the time to take what we have learned and make something better.

Famous Tauruses: Queen Elizabeth II, Saddam Hussein, Natasha Richardson

TAURUS (April 20-May 20) — Happy birthday, Taurus! You start your new year by holding greater space for yourself and honoring your emotions more fully. It is here, in this place, that self-love is cultivated. You see how this is vital to your well-being.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) — It is essential for our health that we give space for all of our feelings. Where there is loss, sorrow is a natural emotion. Give yourself the room to feel. As you allow this, you are loving yourself and growing your capacity to exist more fully in the moment.

CANCER (June 21-July 22) — Material neutrality sets you free now, Cancer. The more detached you can be, the better. Your nature is one of holding and this is how you express value. But now you must value your own peace of mind over external things. All will come into balance, and the more you relinquish control, the faster things will come to resolution.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) — Internal strength is the key, Leo. You move through life from a grounded center and this allows you to keep your focus regardless of what you encounter on the road. Let your inner guidance direct you, and tune out the rest.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) — Usurping power and authority is the issue at hand, Virgo. You have reached a new plateau when it comes to owning your own personal authority, and this means that you are less capable of turning your power over to others. The world needs you in your power.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) — Reestablishing your footing is where you focus now, Libra. You are open to life unfolding, and this means change. You renegotiate energies in order to arrive at a new, more appropriate place. This, in turn, allows you to move in the directions that call to you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) — Letting go so that you can begin movement in new structural directions is your best course, Scorpio. You release what does not seem to be working at the moment in order to make room for genuine creativity. You need a lot of room and this means releasing what does not serve you.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) — You move your attention away from the cosmic and toward the mundane now, Sag. It is your nature to be expanded into a larger view of life, but now you need to "come down to earth" in order to take care of the business at hand. This is the place — right here — that we must unfold inside of.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — Strength comes to you as you seek peace, Capricorn. You bring this longing to the forefront. It is time to take all of your many gifts and talents and consciously utilize them for the greater good. What do you want to use your lifeforce to bring about?

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) — When we experience a sense of futility, it is important to listen. Many times, we can be pushing in directions that are not destined to unfold at the moment. Look for the places that inspire you, and move away from those that leave you feeling like you are pouring your energy down a drain.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) — You seek to honor yourself, Pisces. This world holds many pathways for you to walk down. Past disappointments have led to growth and a deeper capacity for appreciation. You are able to move in new ways now. Go where you want to be.

ARIES (March 21-April 19) — There is much worry in the air these days, Aries. You look within for solace. We are all acutely aware that there are larger scenarios at play and that we must each find a way to navigate our personal lives along with our places inside of the collective. You use your energy to find new strength.
