The Sun, traveling through Aquarius this month, finds us longing to break free from chains that bind us — until it enters Pisces on the 18th, and we relinquish our boundaries in search of ourselves. There is much to embrace in this changing world, and Aquarius energy guides us as we grow our capacity to embrace the new and function with confidence in the midst of the unknown. It is this in space that we can create a better world. The full moon on the 9th in Leo shines light on our unique gifts, and the new moon on the 24th in Pisces invites new compassion within us all.

Venus enters Aries on the 2nd, reminding us to value our personal identity. Mars enters Aquarius on the 4th, urging us to move in directions of greater freedom. Saturn in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces on the 5th as we seek balance between our need for personal containment and spiritual freedom. Mercury enters Aquarius on the 14th, provoking us to speak words that free us. Mars conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius on the 17th, revealing new doors to greater freedom. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter on the 23rd, as we throw caution to the wind and speak our higher truths fearlessly.

Famous Aquarians: Abraham Lincoln, John Travolta, Ellen Degeneres

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) — Happy birthday, Aquarius! This is the perfect time for you to look out into the world and consider what it is that you wish to create from deep within. There is something to say about focusing on our dreams and visions — especially when the time is right. You can make things real by seeing what it is you desire as you look out into the world.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) — It is OK to let others be strong, Pisces. You can relinquish control and move more fully into your fluid state. It is in that space of surrender that you feel most at home. Your strength is found in letting go and trusting in the ability of life itself to guide the natural unfoldingof things.

ARIES (March 21-April 19) — We are all asked to sit in the seat of judgment from time to time, Aries. You are called to be truthful and to bring about a higher balance born of inner wisdom. You have the power to shift things through the simple act of owning what it is that you know deep inside yourself. Those around you need you in your strength now.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20) — Although others can mirror our soul's beauty to us, we must also be able to carry that vision of ourselves out into the world on our own. You can take the love you receive and use it to strengthen your own sense of self and integrate the gifts that those who see your beauty give to you. There is nothing quite as healing as seeing our beauty reflected back to us by others.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) — As you connect to your personal divinity, you find the peace you long for, Gemini. You draw your energy back toward yourself and from there, you can find the way to listen to your own soul. There are as many worlds as there are people living here on the earth. You choose to tend to your private life.

CANCER (June 21-July 22) — You are meticulous in separating out those energies that are incompatible with your own, Cancer. This work leaves you able to revel in your own spiritual energy. There is nothing quite as wondrous as knowing the sacredness of our own paths, and all paths are sacred. You see things with new eyes.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) — It is OK to turn down excess, Leo. There is much to appreciate and enjoy in life, yet we do not have to take advantage of everything that comes to us. You can trust that as things flow past you, there is a balance that is created. You will have what you need when the time comes, and you can let things go that do not serve you now.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) — You are able to move forward to greater levels of sustenance, Virgo. You have reached a certain plateau and now you move beyond it. You have moved beyond limitations that seemed insurmountable before. You are now capable of further growth. There is greater freedom for you to experience.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) — You sit inside of a powerful seat of creative potential now, Libra. It is important for you to direct your energy in conscious ways in order to bring about the changes you desire. There is much to consider. You benefit tremendously when you move your attention from the outer world toward your inner world of dreams. Focus here.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) — You free yourself from circumstances that drown you, Scorpio. You separate out of the shared psychic pool of humanity and shake it all off. It is easy for you to feel saturated and so you do well to bring caution to your exchanges. Just because you can immerse yourself doesn't mean you must.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) — You face what disappoints you, Sag. It is here, inside of this honesty, that you find the answers you have been looking for. You are forever optimistic, yet there is also the need to be honest with yourself. It is too easy to get caught in unhealthy cycles otherwise.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — You can take your competence when it comes to manifesting supportive structures and transfer it into new and innovative realms of creation, Capricorn. It is obvious that what we have collectively manifested holds much room for improvement. Those who are capable of designing structures can facilitate bringing about wonderful change. That includes you!
