Table Talk

As if he's not busy enough with MorningStar, the bustling sport clothing and screen-printing business he owns with his wife Lynn, Rocky Mondello bought the L&M Flooring building at 111 W. College in Silver City just over a month ago with plans for a potential new business. Mondello envisions the site as a good spot for a casual restaurant with live music, something he thinks Silver City can use more of. Things are still very much in the beginning stages, Mondello says, and adds that he is looking for the right food professional to partner up in the venture. MorningStar, 809 N. Bullard St. 388-3191.

Adobe Springs Restaurant has received its liquor license and, along with Sunday brunch and lunches Tues.-Sat., is now serving dinners Thurs., Fri. and Sat nights. Hours are now Tues. and Wed. 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Thurs. and Fri. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Sat. 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sun. brunch 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 1617 Silver Heights Blvd., Silver City, 538-3665.

More changes from chef Shevek Barnhart. His Silver City restaurant will now go under the new name Shevek & Co. Restaurant, and will re-open June 7 after having undergone renovations. New identity, but the chef's signature style with Mediterranean cuisine remains. The restaurant will feature two special dinners this month, with wine or beer tastings, weekends of June 13-14 and June 20-21. Cheers! 602 N. Bullard St. 534-9168.

After serving Las Cruces for more than a century, Dutch's Meat Market will close its doors forever. The downtown landmark, owned by the Gibson family since 1962, is closing due to an illness.

The Eagle Ranch Mercantile gift shop will operate the new snack bar at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, open during museum hours — Mon.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., 12-5 p.m. — eventually expanding to offer light lunch options. The operation replaces the Museum Grill restaurant, run by Dickerson's Catering for the past three years. Dickerson's will continue to rent rooms and cater events at the museum, and plans to open a new sports bar called The Game in the building that used to be Pete's Hacienda on Espina Street near University Avenue. Dickerson's hopes to open the NMSU athletics-themed venue in time for the school's football team's first game of the season.
