2046—Through Jan. 5. Wong Kar-wai's new movie is an extension to his In the Mood for Love, starring Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. They were in 1960s Hong Kong poignantly drawn together because their respective spouses were having an affair. It brings us back to Hong Kong in the mid-60s: Chow (Leung) has fled to Singapore where he had a fling with a gambler Su Li-zhen (Gong Li) who mysteriously has the same name as Maggie Cheung's original character. Now Chow has come back and become a cool, cruel heartbreaker himself, unable or unwilling to return the passionate love he inspires in a beautiful prostitute played by Zhang Ziyi. His entire emotional life is poured into the sci-fi novel he is writing. A time-travel train takes people to the year 2046 to reclaim memories; it is on this train that one refugee falls in love with a robo-attendant who, tellingly, is unable to feel anything for him. Rated R for sexual content. Nightly at 7:30 p.m. except Dec. 31. Sunday matinee at 2:30. $6, members $4, students and seniors $5, matinees $5, Wednesdays $4.
